I liked this GoPicnic meal a lot, except for the dry-roasted edamame. That stuff tastes like acorns. Only 400 calories for the whole box.

food yummy diet foodHave you ever had sunbutter? It is a lot like peanut butter, but made of sunflower seeds. Very tasty. This whole GoPicnic meal (490 calories) is great.

food sunbutter yummy diet foodDelicious GoPicnic lunch today. The lemon pepper tuna spread looks kinda like cat barf, but it tastes great, I swear. Only 320 calories for the entire box.

food tuna yummy diet foodI stopped into the hippie grocery store near my office this week to pick up some tea, and I came out with a box of this Kashi cereal because it sounded so delicious (I mean, “honey sunshine” has quite the ring to it). And it is! Plus, it’s only 100 calories for 3/4 cup. I eat it at my desk in the morning, with some skim milk.

food cereal honey yummy diet foodI’d be laughing too, cow, if I got to eat this delicious cheese all day. The mozzarella, tomato and basil version is also great. Only 35 calories per wedge! And each wedge is enough to coat at least four Wheat Thins.

food cheese yummy diet foodHow to make tea, Alyssa-style:
1) Turn on sink faucet as hot as it will go
2) Fill mug with water
3) Put “hot cinnamon sunset” (I don’t know what that even means but it’s delicious) tea bag in mug
4) Drink tea

This Healthy Choice pasta meal was actually pretty good.
Backstory: I’m trying to keep track of my calories because I went buckwild over the past six months and gained a bit of heft and now I can’t wear pants. I’ve been doing it for two weeks so far and the only reason I’ve been able to keep up is because My Fitness Pal is the best mobile app ever — it’s free and fun to use. It’s super easy to track calories if you’re eating packaged foods — you can even just scan the barcode with your iPhone and the app automatically pulls up all the nutrition facts! However, I dine out a bunch and I’m really bad at estimating how many calories are in things I eat at restaurants, so my counts are probably pretty off.
So, I’m trying to eat more packaged foods for a bit. The problem is, a lot of packaged foods are really gross, especially diet ones. But some of them are good! So I’ve decided to collect the tasty ones under the tag Yummy Diet Food (I use the term “diet” loosely…if it’s under, like, 400 calories, that’s pretty decent to me). Check ‘em out, but remember I’m not a doctor or a nutritionist, so don’t blame me if you get fat and/or die.
food weight loss dieting yummy diet foodProbably the best thing about Las Vegas is that they sell these GoPicnic things in the airport. I had never seen them before, but they’re basically non-crappy Lunchables. Also, the entire pack is only about 300 calories. I may have just ordered every variety, so I can eat them at my desk when I don’t have time to run out for food.
