Woodland Creature

Not quite a blank canvas

mbooth:

Journalists get tons of emails every day, so it’s hard to stand out when your client has exciting news. One way to get their attention is with creative media mailers — something the M Booth Spirits and Consumer teams, in particular, do often. They usually include a sample of the client’s product, plus a little something extra that relates to the item in some way and adds a creative angle.

If the mailers work, they get the journalists’ attention, make them smile and persuade them to cover your client’s news. However, Dreamworks and Paramount hit the jackpot today, with a Wall Street Journal feature on the items they sent to journalists to promote the new movie Puss in Boots — tiny pairs of boots for cats. Since I have a well-documented obsession with both animals and miniatures, I obviously think this is the best media mailer of all time, and it’s nice to know that Marshall Heyman at the WSJ shares my appreciation of it.
