A Sister’s Eulogy for Steve Jobs →
Even as a feminist, my whole life I’d been waiting for a man to love, who could love me. For decades, I’d thought that man would be my father. When I was 25, I met that man and he was my brother. WatchWatch
Can you spot me? I think this weekend was my eighth Tompkins Square Park puppy Halloween parade. I’m pretty sure I’ve gone every year I’ve lived in the city, except I had to skip it in 2009 because I was in Budapest, and I was really sad about it.

Things I Bought That I Love: BCBG Leopard Pencil... →
When I was in high school, and all the girls wanted to get their prom dresses from Betsey Johnson, I went to Cache in the mall. Cache is a chain boutique filled with dresses and skirt suits for aging tarts. It’s the kind of store low-rent Mob Wives might go to, or where Meredith Palmer from The Office might go in her dreams. Cache is full of aqua lace, strapless taffeta party dresses, and more...

All the Single Ladies →
Some fascinating facts from this compelling article from The Atlantic: Today, 40 percent of children are born to single mothers.  2010 was the first time in American history that women made up the majority of the workforce.  Siberia is suffering such an acute “man shortage” (due in part to massive rates of alcoholism) that both men and women have lobbied the Russian parliament to legalize...

Gunning for Wall Street, With Faulty Aim →
Some said they were fighting the legal doctrine of corporate personhood; others, not fully understanding what that meant, believed it meant corporations paid no taxes whatsoever. Others came to voice concerns about the death penalty, the drug war, the environment. “I want to get rid of the combustion engine,” John McKibben, an activist from Vermont, declared as his primary ambition. “I want to...
